Dosing steps of reverse osmosis scale inhibitor

During the operation of the reverse osmosis system, in order to prevent the risk of scaling, we usually add RO antiscalant to prevent this problem.

Dosing method of RO antiscalant

Reverse osmosis systems generally have dedicated automatic dosing devices, consisting of dosing boxes, metering pumps, etc., which can set the dosage per unit time for continuous addition.

Dosing steps of RO antiscalant

1. The initial dosing should be done by cleaning the dosing box first.

When cleaning, close the drain valve at the bottom of the dosing box. After water injection and cleaning, open the drain valve to drain the water. After cleaning twice, start adding the medication.

2. Adjusting the dosing stroke of the metering pump

Turn the stroke adjustment knob of the metering pump counterclockwise to the corresponding scale.

3. Dispensing

Check and close the bottom drain valve of the dosing box, and calculate the amount of RO antiscalant added based on the effective volume inside the dosing box and the actual working output of the metering pump. Add medication from the inlet of the dosing box, open the inlet valve to dilute to the highest liquid level mark, and close the makeup valve.

Example: If the reverse osmosis feedwater flow rate is 160m3/h and the metering pump flow rate is 22 L/h, adjusting the metering pump stroke to 40% will result in an actual output of 22 L/h × 40%=8.8 L/h

The effective volume of the dosing box is 600 liters.

The volume of RO antiscalant concentrate should be added to the dosing tank:

4. Turn on the mixing motor of the dosing box, mix the medicine evenly, and then stop the motor.

5. Open the inlet and outlet valves of the metering pump, turn on the metering pump switch, and add the chemicals before the security filter. After RO shutdown, turn off the metering pump.

6. Regularly inspect the dosing system for leaks and promptly resolve any leaks.

Check whether the dosing amount of the metering pump is accurate, whether the liquid level in the dosing tank drops and whether the calculated dosing amount of the metering pump is consistent. If not, calculate and adjust it in a timely manner.

7. Record monthly to check if the total water inflow and dosage match.

8. Be careful not to exceed the maximum liquid level when adding water to the dosing tank.

9. When a low liquid level alarm is set in the dosing tank, if the central control PLC is set to a low liquid level alarm, the dosing pump will be stopped and switched to the standby dosing tank and metering pump for dosing.

When preparing the PTP-0100 solution for the second time, the volume of the dosing box is calculated based on the actual volume.

If the diameter of the dosing box is 1m, the actual volume is:

V=S × H= Л R2h=3.14 × zero point five × zero point five × H=0.785h (liters)
